Abstract

Hyalinizing trabecular tumor (HTT) of the thyroid gland is a rare benign tumor that is characterized by thick tra- beculae with intra-trabecular hyaline material. This tumor is often classified as indeterminate/suspicious accord- ing to the Bethesda system on fine-needle aspiration (FNA) cytology, because of HTT cells and papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) cells overlapped cytologic features. Recently, we experienced a case of multifocal HTTs of the thyroid gland. A 61-year-old woman present with multiple thyroid nodules. FNA cytology showed suspicious PTC, and we performed left hemithyroidectomy. However, the pathology after surgery indicated multifocal HTTs. We present this HTTs case with a brief review.
